August 12--Safe and Sound

They dressed Silas in the outfit we brought for him before the put him in our arms.

"Safe and sound, you're here with us now."

Lucia is doing amazing. She already loves Silas very much and wants to hold him and feed him.

On the ride back to our hotel.

Balloons and a welcome sign on our door.

It has been an amazing day. It is hard to put it into words how today has been, but we will try. We arrived at CRAN around 11:00 after a 30 minute ride. It is a beautiful children's home in the mountains. We met with Ximena, who founded CRAN 31 years ago. She is an amazing woman who passionately loves the children in her care. While we were meeting with her, Silas was being dressed in the outfit we brought him. We then met with Silas's foster mother, who cared wonderfully for him. It was very emotional for all of us. It was very evident that her love for him runs very deeply and that Silas got loving care and attention. She gave us a photo album of his first months, along with his schedule. We are so grateful for these treasures.

We were then united with Silas. It went just like we dreamed it would. They placed him in Trisha's arms while Brian and Lucia were standing by. It was an incredible and indescribable family moment. We all soaked in our first moments together. We were also given his favorite blanket and bottle, which will help in the transition from his foster mother's arms into ours.

We are madly in love and so thankful to our Father in heaven who has brought our family together. We thank Him for the blessings of our children! We will be posting a video later, so stay tuned!

We sang the song that you are listening to on the blog on our ride back. Safe and sound, you're here with us now... What wonderful words describe what we are experiencing!

Trisha and Brian and Lucia,
Oh, how beautiful these pictures are, and what an honor to see some of your first moments! Silas is a gorgeous child and I cannot wait to hold him and say hello! Bogota looks amazing, I think we (I) am ready to go.....I love the picture of you as a family (your first few moments together) - Trisha looks glowing. And the pic with Brian...um, he looks like a perfect combo of Mom and Dad- I BET you'll have people thinking you physically birthed this child!! Our prayers are with you and we are anxious to have you back. But, meanwhile, know that you are loved and missed here in ColUmbia!

Brian, Trisha & Lucia, and now Silas - how wonderful that you are building such a beautiful family and are able to share it with us while it's happening. Congratulations to you all, but most of all to Silas, the luckiest baby of all! And with the best big sister ever! Becky Dark.

We are just so happy to have Silas in the family!!! He is beautiful! Brian, I can't believe how much Silas looks like a Kirkland:) He actually reminds me a lot of Kirk. Y'all look wonderful, glowing, and happy...and Lucia looks beautiful. She's going to be a great big sister. Looking forward to all the updates. Much love and prayers -- Tanya, Franklin, and "the cousins".

We are enjoying the updates so much! It's like we are taking part of these first days also -- what a joy! The photos are wonderful! I printed some out and took them to work today. They thought Silas was adorable, and Lucia too! One of the nurses actually said he looked just like ME, and I said Thank You! (She didn't know he was adopted until I told her.) Your family photo is so beautiful. You can see the joy in all of your faces! It's true, Trisha, you are glowing, and Brian you look so proud! I will have to confess that when I saw the picture of you holding your son, I cried -- that's what mother's do, you know. :) Lucia, you are so precious with Silas. He's going to really love his big sister! We pray your time there will be blessed. We look forward to your updates. We love you all.

Silas: You are one handsome little boy and you have stolen our hearts already. We are so looking forward to wrapping our arms around you! Our God is an Awesome God and He has blessed us all by bringing you into our family.
Welcome to The Kirkland Family. We Love You Very Much! Hugs and Kisses (and lots of them!) Mimi and Pop-Pop, Grandma and Granddaddy, or whatever you end up calling us! :) <><
